Development projects of the industry
IQDHO takes part in the realization of development projects for the ornamental horticulture industry such as the coordination of the phytosanitary warning network for nurseries and cities, the piloting of ornamental horticulture sector of the «Agri-Réseau» site, the participation in development and experimentation projects of new cultures, and more. Year in year out, IQDHO works on twenty or so special mandates and development projects of the sector.

These projects are initiated either by the advisors of IQDHO which note needs during their visits in companies or by production, service or marketing customers which approach us with particular needs.

As a non-profit-making organization whose mandate is the development of the sector, our philosophy is to make strategic choices according to the potential repercussions for the whole of the industry before agreeing to take part in a new mandate or project. The request for development was extended to the sectors other than the production, for example: landscaping, cities and lawn maintenance services.

To give an idea of the large range of topics approached, here’s a very short list of projects on which IQDHO worked during the last ten years.

  • Selection and marketing of ornamental plants in Mongolia
  • International Floral festivals: «Floralies de Québec» 1997 and 2002
  • Adaptation of the Agritel data bank to the sector of the ornamental horticulture
  • Revision and development of the standards of the «Bureau de normalisation du Québec» (BNQ) in ornamental horticulture
  • Management of the inventories in nurseries
  • Standardization of pest control in greenhouses
  • International Mosaiculture of Montreal 2003
  • Auto-evaluation note book in pest control management in nurseries
