Mission

The Quebec Institute for the Development of Ornamental Horticulture (IQDHO) is dedicated to growers of ornamental plants and the overall sector of ornamental horticulture.
 

It falls under the strategic directions of the MAPAQ to join in partnership with the industry to take over the responsibility of consulting services. That in order to allow:

• a concerted orientation of the consulting services
• improvement in the quality of services
• an additional financial contribution supporting the increase in the services and innovating auxiliary tools in the medium term
• the creation of a simple, flexible structure capable of reacting quickly.

Since January 1990, IQDHO offers services to the growers and to the industry partners.

The Institute also organizes technical activities for group such as conferences, workshops, courses and study tours. IQDHO also publishes conference books and reference guides for the industry. With an aim of offering innovative and avant-garde services, IQDHO set up the Knowledge Management Center made up of a documentation center, HORTIDATA data bank, a global network of experts and a world wide technological watch.

IQDHO also takes part in development projects for the ornamental industry such as the coordination of the nursery sector and cities phytosanitary warning networks, the development of data sheets, the horticultural classification of the municipalities of Quebec for « Les Fleurons du Quebec», the experimentation and development projects of new cultures and innovative methods of production, etc. And since November 2005, IQDHO acts as a source of the ornamental horticulture sector for «Agri-réseau».
